Don’t Just Change, Transform

I got my nails done last week, and we were having a conversation about current events. There was back and forth surrounding the economy and how we will never go back to pre-COVID life. This is the new America. Although I am in agreeance that life will never be what it was pre-COVID, I don’t believe that we will be able to sustain without some type of change. I believe that with increased costs, innovation will take place to provide more *balance*. There will be no need to go back to life pre-COVID. We are already seeing it happen in real time. How many news breaks have occurred in this last year alone where people in power’s mess has been pulled from beneath the rug? We have already started to get fed up with the current state. I have no proof as I am not in control, but my intuition is telling me that we won’t be paying $10 for a gallon of gas without an entire systematic change to support that. The world isn’t just happening to us; we are happening to the world.

Pluto, the planet of transformation through the cycle of life/death, transitioning into Aquarius has been a major talking point lately, and from my understanding, it’s the change that we need. Pluto was in Capricorn since 2008 (we know that 2008 caused an economic shift) and had been up until last year. Without diving too deep into astrology, Capricorn is an energy that represents responsibility, power, resilience, and self-sufficiency while Aquarius is an energy that represents community, innovation, creativity, and progressiveness. In summary, we are transitioning to remove some of the power from those already in power and to put it into the hands of our local environments by everyday people. We are literally responsible for the change that we want to see. It will not be an overnight process. This will be a 20-year adjustment, but necessary change is underway.

“It takes a village” emphasizes the importance of shared resources. One of the points that was made at the nail salon is that unless you’re the crème of the crop financially, your lifestyle is bound to be affected, if it hasn’t been already. Between 2008 and 2023, we saw the shifts that occurred in ways that we would have never imagined (interest rates, the housing market, new means of currency and ways to invest), and I have that same mindset about our current state. The only thing that’s constant is change, and I can’t confidently and wholeheartedly say that this is what life will remain as for us moving forward. I feel quite the opposite. No amount of AI or technological advancements will ever be able to replicate the importance and sensitivity of human connection and human behavior. There’s a layer that often gets excluded when making financial predictions about anything, and it’s the simple fact that the human brain is a force to be reckoned with. It’s like a game of tic tac toe and the unpredictability of human behavior is your opponent, never completely understood and always underestimated. Are you prepared?

Reflection Points:

  1. What changes would you like to see in the world?
  2. How do you provide resources to the community?
  3. Would you be satisfied with a collectivistic culture?
